Stem Cell Therapy
Spine Specialists of Michigan has joined the field of Regenerative Medicine and now offers biological therapies designed to help your body heal itself. This revolutionary field of Orthopedics uses advanced stem cell therapy to heal bone, muscle, soft tissue and nerve injuries. This therapy is designed to treat patients who still experience pain after traditional treatments like physical therapy, pain management, medications have failed. It may also help deter a surgical procedure and improve joint function. Regenerative Medicine is now the easiest non-invasive method to improve your quality of life. Stem Cells play a critical role in regenerative medicine. Once stem cells are deployed they act by first migrating to sites of injury. They release growth factors which help in controlling the inflammatory response that in turn heals tissue and other cells. In addition, they have the ability to increase blood flow to an area by forming new blood vessels. This is important as increased blood flow brings the necessary nutrients to injured areas which aid in the healing process. As you age, the amount of stem cells in your body decrease and are not as efficient. Regenerative Therapy uses Stem Cells as they renew themselves by replication. These properties enable stem cells to repair damaged tissue and have the potential to naturally control your immune system.
Benefits of Stem Cell Therapy:
- Non Surgical, Minimally Invasive
- Increased Healing Potential, Increased Blood Flow
- Safe and Effective
- Decreased Pain
- Increased Function
- Quicker Recovery Time
- Decreased Time Away From Activities
Spine Specialists of Michigan is using Stem Cell Therapy to treat:
- Back and Neck Pain, Disc Disease
- Tendonitis and Tendon and Ligament Injuries
- Strains and Sprains
- Peripheral Nerve Injuries
- Muscle Tears, Rotator Cuff Injuries/Tears
- Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease and Strokes
Spine Specialists of Michigan obtains stem cell product from Liveyon, the premier source of high quality Stem Cells. Liveyon distributes umbilical cord derived products to Spine Specialists of Michigan for use in regenerative medicine therapies. The umbilical cord is rich in growth factors, cells and life as it has helped sustain the life of a healthy fetus for 9 months.
Liveyon's regenerative medicine product is derived from Umbilical Cord Tissue Donations. Their product contains mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and is rich in growth factors from umbilical cord tissue. They obtain the tissues under informed consent and strict ethical protocols. The tissues are from safe, reliable hospital sources via a non-invasive, simple and painless procedure. Participating hospitals invite screened mothers expecting normal, healthy births to donate the resulting umbilical cord tissues. These otherwise discarded tissues are an excellent source of high-quality stem cells and growth factors which may be used in regenerative medicine. At the time of birth, a specialized nurse enters the delivery room to carry out the extraction procedures. The umbilical cord tissue and blood is extracted and taken to Liveyon's lab which follows cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) and GTP (Good Tissue Practices) procedures. From there the regenerative product is made. All the tissues obtained are screened under AATB standards in order to assure the highest quality product.
Advantages of using Spine Specialists of Michigan MSCs:
- Patient Safety
- Consistent Dosing
- Ease of Use
- Tissue Bank Regulated by American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB)
- FDA Compliant Lab
- Single Dose For IV, IA and IT
- 20-30 minute in office procedure
And with Stem Cells derived from Umbilical Cords there is no HLA matching, which means most patients can enjoy the treatment with minimal to no side effects!
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
PRP injections can be applied to various musculoskeletal problems to promote healing and decrease pain and inflammation of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. PRP injections are prepared from a simple blood draw. The blood is placed in a sterile centrifuge. The sterile centrifuge extracts the activated platelets. The activated platelets are then injected into the abnormal tissue, releasing growth factors that recruit and increase the proliferation of reparative cells. PRP injections have been shown to improve function and decrease pain and inflammation with relatively little to no side effects as this procedure utilizes a patient's own blood.
